Beckett’s Irish Bar is one of Budapest’s longest-running Irish pubs, but online it didn’t reflect that. Their Google listing was pointing people to social pages instead of a proper website — which meant Google had very little to crawl, understand, or rank.

After launching a hospitality website built by AWOL’s Off Your Plate (OYP), the bar started moving quickly up Googles rankings.

Results after 21 days:

  • Average Google position improved from #58#37

  • Website traffic increased about 10×

  • Rankings continued climbing week by week

The Starting Point: Social Links Don’t Build Rankings

Before OYP, Beckett’s setup was simple:

  • Google listing → social platform link

  • No crawlable pages Google could understand

  • No structure around Irish pub searches

  • No owned asset building authority over time

This is common for bars and restaurants, but it caps how high you can climb.

The Change: A Website Built for Hospitality Searches

We built and launched a fully managed Off Your Plate website for Beckett’s:

The goal wasn’t “a nicer link than Instagram”. It was a site designed around how people actually search for pubs in Budapest — with pages, content, and structure that Google can read.

Key upgrades included:

  • Mobile-first layout (most searches happen on phones)

  • Clear Irish pub keyword targeting

  • Proper local SEO structure (clean headings + internal links)

  • Fast loading speeds and correct indexing

  • Schema setup so Google understands the venue

Results After 21 Days

In the first three weeks:

  • #58#37 average Google position

  • 10× traffic increase to the website

  • Early visibility for searches like:

    • Irish bar Budapest

    • Irish pub city centre Budapest

    • Live sports Irish bar Budapest

The biggest shift was where the traffic went. Instead of sending people to directories or social platforms, more searches started landing on Beckett’s own site — where they control the customer journey.

Why This Worked (And Why Instagram Didn’t)

Instagram is great for regulars and posts — but it isn’t built for search rankings.

A website gives Google:

  • crawlable pages

  • clear topics and relevance

  • consistent signals over time

  • a place for rankings to compound

That’s why swapping the Google listing link to a real site made a difference.

What This Means for Hospitality Owners

If your Google listing links to Instagram, Facebook, or a directory page, you’re usually limiting how far you can rank.

Beckett’s proves you don’t need months of effort or a big budget to start moving — you just need the right website, built for hospitality, and managed properly.
