A Christmas Wish From AWOL

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to pause for a moment and say thank you.

This year, AWOL launched into the world — and the reception has been more than we could ever have hoped for. What started as an idea became something real because people chose to believe in it, use it, share it, and talk about it. For that, we’re genuinely grateful.

AWOL was built to support small, local businesses — the cafés, bars, restaurants, and independent spots that give our cities their character and soul. Places run by real people, with real stories, often working long hours just to keep the lights on. They are the heart of our communities, and they matter.

As we move into the quieter months of January and February, we’d ask one simple thing: if you can, support local. Choose the independent café over the chain. Try somewhere new. Leave a kind review. Bring a friend. These small actions make a bigger difference than most people realise, especially at this time of year.

Christmas is also a moment to reflect. To hold those close to us a little tighter, and to remember those who don’t have anyone to spend this season with. Kindness costs nothing, but it carries a lot of weight.

From everyone behind AWOL, thank you for being part of this journey so far. We’re only just getting started, and we can’t wait to build what comes next — together.
